1978 Corvette Stolen at Woodward Dream Cruise
***UPDATE August 23rd, 2016***
The car has been found! Well most of it.
A stolen 1978 classic will soon be back in its spot after a Good Samaritan in Detroit spotted the stolen wheels and waited by it until police arrived….
…Monday morning, around 2 o’clock, a citizen spotted the car at Joy and Ward. This person called police and stood by the car until Detroit police arrived on scene.
But it’s not exactly a happy ending. Police said the car is missing the engine and wheels.
It’s always good to hear a car being reunited with it’s owner, but still sad that they now need to replace all that is missing. Still, can’t replace the memories associated with the car.
From Monday August 22nd;
Another week, another classic car stolen. This time in broad daylight!
At 1:40pm in the afternoon of Saturday August 20th, Kelly Robinson’s 1978 Corvette was stolen from behind Rosie O’Grady’s Irish Pub in Ferndale, Michigan. That my friends, takes some balls.
According to their Facebook page, “The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture, attracting more than 1 million visitors and over 50,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles to Metro Detroit.” So someone has to know or seen something right? Especially with everyone and their family running around taking pictures all day.
It’s a 1978 Corvette, I bought it when I was 23 years old. This is my 17th summer with it,” said a devastated Robinson. “I thought this was going to be something I’d have for the rest of my life and be able to pass down to my niece someday. I thought I was going to enjoy it for many more years to come.
There is a reward if found so if you or someone you know may have any info, please call the Ferndale,MI police at 248-541-3650 or contact us here and we can forward the information.
